What to wear

Garden formal, on a lawn, in July, above a river that gets windy after dark. Dress for the wind.

The short version

Garden formal

Suits and cocktail dresses. Long dresses are very welcome. Nobody needs a tuxedo, and nobody needs to buy anything new.

The ceremony and drinks are outside on grass, and the evening cools down fast once the sun drops behind the ridge.

Two practical notes

Heels will sink

We’re on lawn and gravel. Block heels, wedges and flats all work. Stilettos will spend the evening in your hand.

Bring a layer

July days in the Gorge run hot, often high eighties. The evenings drop twenty degrees and the wind comes up the river. Bring a jacket or a wrap you’d be happy to be photographed in.

What to skip

White, ivory and anything that photographs as either. Beyond that, wear what you like. We mean it.

The palette

Not a dress code, just where our heads are, if it helps you pick. Creams, sand, olive, deep green, warm browns.
